I don't get it.

4 sets of locks prevent the Stargate from spinning. A quick process of elimination reveals the keys to 3 sets of locks. Discovering and understanding the 4th key requires only a small amount of curiosity. The Stargate itself will collect the orbs after it's freed. Any key that drops the lock from above must be avoided during the final attempt to unlock all locks.
