Thanks man. 1503, niiice. I tried a few different things, but this method seemed best for the subject matter. I'm thinking about a hybrid approach that would result in a really cool finished product, but I'll have to muster up the patience to play around with it again.
i used an image to ASCII TEXT converter, then find and replace to to change the symbols into code for circles with corresponding coordinates and radius.
Ah ok, I wasn't sure if you were saying you thought we used a different method technically, or a different approach stylistically. I used an image to half-tone vector converter, and used a macro in my graphics program to generate X,Y,size code that I conformed to GM code in Excel.
Converted initial jpg into a half-tone svg file, imported that into my graphics program where I could see it in vector form and play with it a bit more, then generated table info (x/y/size of all circles), and from there to Excel for the final GM code bits and pieces.
