nice level
To anyone who'se interested, here's a link : https://ideone.com/QNm3Av , to a commented pseudo-code (ie does not actually work) - which can be adapted to suit your own GM curvy needs and then be run straight from the website. Explanations are provided as comments. And here is an example that will actually work, but I have not commented (so you can figure out how to use in a more hands on way) : https://ideone.com/Q1Jfdg- its the code for this level
Beautifullest level in GM! Real jewel!!!
Thanks!
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000/5, Noeb. Absolutely exquisite! And thank you for sharing your method. Trigonometry was a long time ago for me, lol. But I will definitely play with it and see if I can get a few brain cells to kick in.
Thanks! As for trigonometry, you don't necessarily need it, you can use any function you want, according to the shape you want
eg https://ideone.com/9XBK0R for a parabola
Thanks! I "forked" it a few times so I could edit and run it. (If that's the wrong way, let me know.) I have been playing with it, and although I'm like an ape looking at the internal workings of a pocket watch, I am slowly starting to understand some of it-- with the ultimate goal of being able to understand at least 3% of it, lol. Thanks again, Noeb-- and an extra thanks for the time you took to write detailed instructions for our benefit.
No problem- the more tools GM players have the better- and I'm sure many people out there could make some really creative stuff with this (much more than me certainly)
Your parabolic levels are very cool, and not likely to be surpassed! Hey, Ossiukko will give you $50,000 if you make us a standalone app with spinners and gizmos that spits out code when we change variables! If not, what you've already done is awesome. :) <><><> [Previous goofy wording of this comment has been redacted.]
Noeb with his skills will not agree to a price that doesn't have six zeros.
A lot of bits do a very slow game. It would take a plotter for mathematical functions and their graphical representation in the GM Level Editor!
@gioctopulse: there's definitely a trade off between smoothness of the curve and smoothness of the game, that's a choice the creator has to make, for instance if you copy the output of this code: https://ideone.com/uOW9XG and create a level out of it, you will get a less smooth version (and a bit buggy around sharp turns), but a much faster game.
No external code, we need new exclusive benchmarks for Gm code: d(...)=double ball, e(...)=ellipse, pb(...)=parable, h(...)=hyperbole, f(...)=conic function, p(...)=polygon, m(...)=mobile target and a(...)=astrojeff (his Gps position), ahahah
Yeah, yeah, you just want things that will make your levels even MORE difficult!
The best level in the GM history! Amazing!
